My Now…

I liked reading this poem. It speaks to me on multiple levels. Especially, making space for the voices of characters in a story.

The Expressible Café

My brain is locked in details
WORDS
Mixing around.

Characters tug at my sleeve
SHOUT
Wanting voice.

Moments of emotion muddle
EPISODES
Shift flow.

Calendar dates collide
CHRONOLOGY
Finding place.

Multiple stories exchange
DICTATE
Deciphering sense.

Deadlines in correspondence
URGE
Not enough.

Praying it will all coalesce
COMPLETE
Reaching goal.
