Final Weeks of NaNoWriMo

nano_poster_2014The month of NaNoWriMo is nearly over and I am putting the finishing touches on my rough draft of “Tales from the Colony.”  The plot thickens.  I have about two chapters to go and then the REAL editing begins.

microsoft-word-2013-23-535x535Working with the functions I enabled in word has allowed me to receive feedback in the process of writing the book, from those awful passive sentences, to misspellings and much more.  It doesn’t catch everything, though.  That’s what my editing passes are for and that is also why my editor exists.  After I clean it up, she’ll put the polish on it.

All in all, it’s going well and I stand to have the rough draft done a week ahead of time.  I do not think, however, that the book will be ready by the end of November, but it will be darn close.  I had a lot of fun writing this one, especially because of the way it was written.  After it comes out, I plan to work on either another 2,000 – 3,000 or go straight to Steel Soldier, from the Resonance Saga.

  1. Congratulations on getting through NaNo in one piece. Kind of jealous, though. My submission work still has as much to go as what I turned in. (Before I start the rewrites because of a saggy opening.) Hope you have taken your well deserved victory dance!
