On Earning a Bachelor’s Degree

I graduated from high school in 2004 and I spent the years since then attending college, first a community college for a handful of years while I tossed myself between various majors and then a university, where I pursued the Special Education program for about five years or so.

I currently plan on graduating at the end of this year with a Bachelor’s in Adult and Community Education, with a focus on technology.

The point I’m trying to make is that persistence and effort trump raw talent, knowledge and plain old luck.  It’s a motto I’ve lived my life by.  I may have taken longer that some people and, given the chance, I probably would have done a few things differently.

Overall though, the decisions I have made in the process of pursuing my education, however imperfect, have matured my psyche in ways I cannot help but feel grateful for.  I still have a long way to go.  I may spend my whole life pursuing the ideal of the person I want to be, but that will only make the journey more enjoyable.
