Betsy Elliott graduated from Indiana State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English teaching and a minor in creative writing. In her undergraduate career, she won various awards including the Hazel T. Pfennig Scholar Award and the Mary Reid McBeth Award in fiction and poetry and was invited to read her creative nonfiction piece at the Writer’s Salon in 2006.
Wells taught high school English and journalism for two years before leaving her position to go back to school to obtain her master’s degree.
She graduated with her master’s in professional writing from Eastern Illinois University in December 2012. At EIU, she was awarded the honor of being the Presidential Graduate Assistant in the English department and nominated for the King-Mertz Research/Creative Activity Award. She currently works at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College as communications manager.
